Browse Newsreel

Browse Newsreel provides a way to browse newsreel footage by collection name (Universal Newsreel, for example), or in one long chronology that mixes all collection releases. Plus/minus signs and "expand/hide" options will expand and collapse the browse. Click on a title to see more information about that video. The play button will play the video automatically.

Most of the Universal Newsreels releases were sourced directly from film at the National Archives and Records Administration in College Park, Maryland, along with Release Notes and other original documentation. At times, these releases were preserved without good sound quality or without good image quality, but they represent the best quality footage Alexander Street Press could find to digitize.
